Description
I've come to think that many people use the word "cute" too loosely. It seems like every orca I have read about is referred to as cute. Come on. There are more words to describe the beauty of a killer whale than simply cute.
One word I use to describe Kasatka's baby, Kalia, is captivating. The thing I find the most intriguing about her is her eyepatches. Take a photo of Kasatka and a photo of Keet. Compare their eyepatches to Kalia. Somehow, it seems like her's are the perfect cross in between each parent. Such as the right one. It is spiked, like Keet's, and has a little bit of a bulge on the front end like Kasatka's. The left one (pictured here) is somewhat angular, similiar to Keet. And then it has those two little spots. Kasatka's many not have spots, but Takara, Kalia's older half sister, does.
So you can see the resemblance to each family in Kalia. That's why I find her interesting and not just "cute".
